Have you ever wanted to feel more confident whilst speaking in public? Maybe to share a personal story or funny anecdote or to give voice to something you feel passionately about … We are all storytellers at heart, yet did you know that 20% of the UK's population is anxious or fearful of speaking in public? That's more than those who are frightened of spiders! And yet expressing ourselves through the voice is a natural gift and we have been sharing stories for millennia.
There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you. Maya Angelou
Many of us recognise the stress of speaking in public. There was a time when fear almost prevented me from learning the storyteller's craft and whilst giving voice to what we feel strongly can be daunting, I honestly believe there is no journey more worthwhile.
So how to overcome the anxiety of standing up in front of others and sharing your life experience, your ideas, your truths … your stories? Well, I believe we are all storytellers at heart and I've developed a 3-day course to help people re-discover the joy of telling stories. Suitable for beginners and anyone wanting to remember and tell a story for the first time.
Join me for this 3-day course and develop your storytelling skills in the peaceful setting of New Place within the cradle of Porlock Vale, Somerset. Gain confidence telling stories and speaking in front of others in an inspiring and supportive setting. Explore the natural beauty of Exmoor’s coastline and allow this stunning landscape to stimulate your natural creativity and storytelling style.
Whether you want to share stories to improve communication or presentation skills, engage with colleagues, nurture the imagination of children or inspire others … whether you’ve told stories before, or want to tell a story for the first time, this workshop will guide you through some basic skills to help you prepare and tell a story with confidence.
